Max percent change in a contract is 10%. Example: The change between the first and second year can be a max of 10%, and add the same amount of money to each year after that. A starting salary of $10 million means you can 10% of that, or $1 million, for year 2. After that you add $1 million extra each year. "I offer Michael Redd a 5 year contract for $60 million, with 10% changes. Year 1: $10m, Year 2: $11m, Year 3: $12m, Year 4: $13m, Year 5: $14m." the 10% rule is for the increments in the contract
