PG Gilbert Areanas/Chris Paul/Kirk Hinrich SG Dwayne Wade/Joe Johnson SF LeBron James/Carmello Anthony/Shane Battier/Bruce Bowen PF Elton Brand/Dwight Howard/Antwan Jamison C Brad Miller/Amare Stoudamire/Chris Bosh
This team (minus 3 players which will be announced Aug. 18) will be competing in Asia for the world championship tournament. IMO the 3 players that will get cut:
Kirk Hinrich Shane Battier Bruce Bowen
Kobe Bryant (surgery), Chauncey Billups (personal), and Paul Pierce (surgery) were never going to be on the team this year for competiton due to their own problems.
Luke Ridnour, Shawn Marion, and Adam Morrison were not chosen for the competition. The only reason Marion wasnt in is because he is having surgery soon.
This team, compiled of 21, will stay intact for all world games until 2010. It is a 4 year committment. Greg Oden will join for the 2008 Olympics as will 2 others to make a total of 24 competing for the roster in 2008.

That team is going to destroy any team that it faces...there are no weak spots at all.

Bowen is a lock to make the 12 man roster, and possibly even start. Carmelo and Johnson have also been mentioned as possible starters, and Wade being a lock to start. Lebron is being mentioned as a 6th man, which he would be the best 6th man ever. The international game is different, you have the right lineup for the NBA, but I'd say the starting lineup will be:
PG Wade SG Johnson SF Bowen PF Anthony C Brand
I see Hinrich, Battier, and Amare being cut. Amare prolly isn't ready enough for the first set of games, but he will be a great part of this teams future.

i realize that the style of play in Europe is more run and gun...the way to combat that is with a stong athletic team that can play lock down D. and you must have a true point guard that can control the tempo of the game and keep the other PG in check...
this is what my starting line up would look like...
pg- Kirk Hinrich sg- Dwayne Wade sf- LeBron James pf- Elton Brand C- Dwight Howard

I heard that Chris Paul had such a good camp that he is going to start. Also the reason Kobe isn't on the team is because of personal problems. For the first time this Milenium I actually like more than 5% of the players on the national team.

CP3 would be a nice choice to have start at the point also.

My boy Joe Johnson is going to show people who don't pay attention to the Hawks how great of a player he is.

No way in this world does LeBron not start. They would have to be dumb not to start him. However Coach K did say he is probably going to play every single man in the games, all getting the same amount of minutes, so it wont matter whos starts really. But LeBron should start

He might not make training camp or something like that too, I cant remember, but he had surgery. Billups was the only personal reason.

Michael Redd is also on the team, but since he is getting married he won't be participating this summer. He has been at the practices though. Amare isn't going to play because he won't be ready, and it's either or battier/bowen. They have to keep at least one role guy who can knock down the shot and play solid D. I would say these 4 are on the bubble for the final 2 spots:
Hinrich battier bowen jamison

Im arguing with this one guy in another league who thinks Iverson should of made the USA team. Anyone agree with him?

IMO Iverson is a top 10 talent still...its amazing that someone his size can take over a game the way he does...
that being said i would not like to see him on the USA team...i dont want anyone over 27 on the team...lets keep the team young! i mean its a 4 year commitment!

iverson doesn't fit with a team of superstars. He is the quickest slasher and in the international game you also need to be able to shoot. Nothing against his game, but i heard people say the same thing about duncan. They don't want a back to basket player for international game, they want a bunch of quick quys who can run. Same thing with Iverson, he just doesn't fit the system.

ive been saying that in the thread if you look cleveland lol. IMO, Iverson doesnt fit the system. Heres my argument:
Why invite him if you dont think he fits in your system? You can give the same argument for Kobe Bryant. Bryant wouldnt be a "ball-hog" if he had a nice supporting cast, like you said for Iverson. However Bryant still goes out, scores with a higher shooting percentage, and hits, what was it, 80 points? You put Bryant above Iverson, and Iverson just cant make the roster with the emergence of LeBron, Wade, and other guards like Chris Paul. He just doesnt fit in.
Chris Paul, Gilbert Areanas, and Kirk Hinrich are all better POINT GUARDS then Allen Iverson.
Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade are better SHOOTING GUARDS then Allen Iverson. Redd has a FAR better shot, as does Joe Johnson. Iverson cannot play another other position besides PG/SG. We dont NEED another guard to compete for the job if we have better players already. We need more big men for the roster.
Why do you think it has been to hard to trade Iverson this year? Nobody is willing to give up alot for him. They dont want to give up what the 76er ownership is asking them to because they know Iverson is on the decline and frankly, he is a scorer but has to take 20-30 shots a game. He just isnt worth it.

I agree, but teams aren't trading for him because of his contract too.
