Round 1 - Dunk 1
Amare Stoudamire
On his fourth attempt, he finally lands his dunk. He bounces it off his knee, off the huge jumbotron, and slams in a reverse windmill.
LeBron James
LeBron got his first dunk out of the way by running baseline and throwing down a 180 reverse, he got big air and showed some power, but it wasn't very creative.
Desmond Mason
Mason had a big chance to capitalize on LeBron's lack of originality, but simply went out there and put in a normal tomahawk. I'm pretty sure he was only there for the extra paycheck.
Jason Richardson
Everyone knows J-Rich had something special in mind. He came through. Richardson stood at the free throw line, tossed it off the backboard, and before slamming it he managed to pull off a 180 between the legs.
Round 1 - Dunk 2
Amare Stoudamire
How do you follow up on a 50? Amare didn't seem to know, he was missing dunks left and right and couldnt seem to catch his own lobs. He finally pulls it all together, on his 5th attempt. Facing the basket standing just before the free throw line, Amare threw the ball from behind his back and caught it in the air with 1 hand and threw down a one handed 360, bringing the crowd to their feet. Needing just a 38 to guarantee his advancement, Amare decided to get another perfect score instead.
LeBron James
Even a 50 won't guarantee his advancement, but it couldn't hurt. Needing to come up big, James struggled. On his 5th attempt, he finally lands his dunk. He lobbed it with one hand from behind his back, and landed a 180 reverse windmill.
Desmond Mason
Mason continued the tradition that Nate Robinson and Chris Anderson started in the previous years. Needing a perfect score to move past LeBron James for second place, Mason finally kicked the ball in the air, caught it and threw it down with 1 hand. If he put a little more in to it, he might have gotten a perfect score.
Jason Richardson
Richardson needs just a 34 to tie for second, 35 to automatically advance. He could have stuck with a simple Tomahawk that landed Mason a 34, maybe turn it into a reverse for a few extra points and advance. But he got tried to do too much. When the others missed dunks, the ball never actually hit the rim, so it didn't officially count as an attempt. Richardson tried some amazing dunk, I can't even describe it anymore, but he was hung by the rim. He had 1 more chance, there was 1 retry per dunk, all he had to do was get the ball in the net. However, he tried to do way too much again, if either of them landed they would have been the best dunks of the night, easily, they might have given him a 60 somehow. But they didn't, and he was left with a low score.
