minnesota owns my 06 and 07 picks houston has my 08 1st and washington has my 08 2nd Minnesota doesn't own those picks. First you traded your 06 1st round pick to Boston, for Boris Diaw. Then you traded your 06 2nd round pick to Washington, for Keyon Dooling. Finally you made a trade with Minnesota, sending him 3 future picks, a 2006 1st, which you already traded so that becomes a 2007, a 2006 2nd, which you also already traded, so that becomes 2007 also, and another 2007 first. Nobody was marking which year their future 1sts were, so they all became 2007, and I went through and made each trade in order that they happened, so this is all correct. In some cases, teams had multiple first round picks. In that case, I would send either that teams pick if it was worded like 'my future first round pick', or the lowest first round pick, if it just said 'a future first'. 2008 is too far in to the future, we are not going to be able to trade for 2008 draft picks this season, only up to 2007. That means you will end up owing a few teams multiple 2007 picks rather than a 2008 pick, which most likely one of you will not be around. |

I'm telling you guys, this is right. Here is how I did it. And I did it twice to double check myself.
I made a list of every team, and their first and secound round picks. Like this:
SAS: SAS1 SAS2
DAL: DAL1 DAL2
HOU: HOU1 HOU2
And then, I made a list of every trade that happened, in order of it happening:
Lakers sends future 1st to Atlanta
Dallas sends future 1st to Sacramento
Miami sends future 2nd to Boston
Dallas sends future 2nd to Philadelphia
Golden State sends future 1st to Toronto
Spurs sends future 2nd to Nuggets
Spurs sends future 2nd to Lakers
Nets sends future 1st to Bucks
Bobcats sends future 2nd to Celtics
Bucks send TWO future 1sts (NJ and MIL) to Magic
Warriors sends future 2nd to New Orleans
Warriors sends future 2nd to Washington
Toronto sends future 1st (GSW) to Phoenix
Suns sends future 1st to Mavs
Atlanta sends future 1st to Dallas
Atlanta sends future 1st to Toronto
Toronto sends future 2nd to Houston

Then I went through and made each trade on the draft board, for example, say the first trade was Dallas sends future 2nd to Houston, the board changed to:
SAS: SAS1 SAS2
DAL: DAL1
HOU: HOU1 HOU2 DAL2
And I kept doing that. If a team had 2 seconds, say how Houston does now, and they said:
Houston sends to San Antonio:
my future 2nd
then:
SAS: SAS1 SAS2 HOU2
DAL: DAL1
HOU: HOU1 DAL2
however, if they would have said:
Houston sends to San Antonio:
a future 2nd
I chose to send the Dallas one, because that is a worse pick, and would be smarter for the Houston GM to do.
SAS: SAS1 SAS2 DAL2
DAL: DAL1
HOU: HOU1 HOU2
Now, if a team like Dallas in this case tried to send a Future 2nd, it would become a 2007 second. All future picks that were unavailable became 2007, NO 2008's.
Now, if Dallas sent a future 2nd to San Antonio, and it became a 2007, that wasn't final. Because say after that, Houston sent Dallas a future 2nd, then Dallas's new 2nd would be sent to San Antonio because he owes them a 2nd.
SAS: SAS1 SAS2 DAL2 HOU2
DAL: DAL1
HOU: HOU1
I went through and did this twice. Some picks you thought you had, you didn't. Some teams may have sent you a future 1st, and you though you had their future 1st, but you actually had a different teams 1st that they had sent them, which is why there is a lot of confusion. This board is correct though.

yeah but i specified to in the minnesota trade what picks he got. thats why the trade went through. for the others it was future not specified meaning i gave them 08. yeah its a little far away, but you are allowed to trade up to 3 years of your draft picks which is why i did that. if i would of known you werent suppose to i dont think i would of but i specified the years in the minny trade and for the other 2 it was just future, which was awarded 2008. i mean, i could care less, but i told minnesota that he got my 06 and 07

I just did it the same way for everyone, all future picks referred to 06. I think 08 picks are too far in advance for us to be able to keep track of, so I am just doing it the way I did. Sorry for Minnesota, they were one of the victims to the system, but it will make up for it in 2007. |

ok so:
Houston has my 2006 1st
Washington has my 2006 2nd
Minnesota has my 2007 1st
Minnesota has my 2007 2nd
Minnesota has my 2008 1st
so what happens to his 2008 pick? his 06 1st and 2nd were moved to 07 and his 07 1st was moved to 08. however you said no 08 picks yet so what do i do to make up for that pick?

Houston has your 2006 1st, Washington has your 2006 2nd..
Minnesota has your 2007 1st, Minnesota has your 2007 2nd, and another 2007 1st from you. This means you will have to trade for a 07 1st by the trade deadline (which is sometime in february of 07 i believe). this shouldn't be too hard to get someone to toss one in to even out the deal, however, failure to do so means that the new minnesota owner will be able to 'steal' someone from your team who does not start or is your 6th man.

i am almost guaranteed to repeat as a top 3 team next year. not only am i going to make atleast the eastern conference finals this year, i have 4 first round picks next year, one of them a lottery pick, which will allow me to add incredible depth, or i could package them for a star, who knows. this team has such a bright future.
