New Jersey Nets Owner/General Manager Alec Friedman:
"As always, I'd like to first thank all of you for taking time out of your day to read this. The goal of this press conference is to talk about and set aside this past season which proved to be quite disappointing. Last summer, our front office put in hours upon hours of hard work looking to find solutions to push the Nets to the head of both the Eastern Conference and the NBA. At the same time though, we felt very confident in the nucleus of players we had returning and was sure they could go further into the playoffs than the previous season. After numerous trade and free agent discussions that in our opinion had too high of an asking price, a decision was come to that we had enough confidence in our group of players to bring back a team with a similar look as the 2005-2006 Nets. The team's early results to this past season were as shocking to us as I'm sure they were to all of you, but having the veteran group we had I was sure we would play our best basketball as the season progressed, which happened. With that, another decision was made not to make a deadline deal with the team coming off of some impressive victories. But as you saw, even when this team was playing it's best basketball we were extremely inconsistent and obviously injuries hurt us in the playoffs with Jason Kidd missing post season action for the second consecutive season. Nonetheless, I'm here to let you know that this season was absolutely unacceptable and I vow to make the necessary adjustments this summer to turn this team back as they were, one of the elite in the NBA. At this time I will take any questions you might have."

What types of players do you plan on bringing in for the coming season? Should we expect a diversion towards younger players or any player that will help the team win?

New Jersey Nets Owner/General Manager Alec Friedman:
"I'm not sure anybody on the roster is certain to return next season. I have all the respect in the world for Jason, he is one of the top players in the NBA and has done wonders for this organization. But as I said, we are looking to do whatever it takes this summer to get this team back in the right direction."

"Honestly, I'm not sure at this point. That is something that is being heavily debated. Whatever we do, the necessary changes will be made."

if VC chooses to opt out of his contract and becomes a FA, will you meet his demands and try to bring him back, or will you instead go towards another direction with the team.

"Well, we hope it doesn't get to that point. If Vince does decide to honor his contract we'll welcome him back with open arms. He did a great job this season."

Why do you believe the Nets failed to make a serious impact in the playoffs this year?

New Jersey Nets Owner/General Manager Alec Friedman:
"When you're so inconsistent throughout a season, eventually you will run into teams that know how to play consistent basketball. I don't think any of us knew if we were going to play well in the Chicago series, but we did know that Chicago was going to play playoff quality basketball every night. That is what playoff teams do, we didn't do that all year."

New Jersey Nets Owner/General Manager Alec Friedman:
"A bunch of things went wrong this season. I don't feel as if this team was as motivated as the year before. Also, you have to give credit to the other teams in the East that joined the Pistons, Magic, and ourselves as the elite in the Eastern Conference like Chicago and Atlanta did. As more East teams became contenders, they may have caught up to us. And in my opinion, we were not motivated enough to handle it, which resulted in a bad case of inconsistency. And that is just the short of it."

New Jersey Nets Owner/General Manager Alec Friedman:
“First of all, I would like to congratulate the Sixers with their luck tonight. Both Greg Oden and Kevin Durant will make an instant impact on whatever team they end up on. We’re excited about the possibility of one of these players coming to the Atlantic division because all five teams this year, including us, didn’t come up with the results they hoped for. I’d love to see a competitive division next year with everybody having a chance to participate in the playoffs.”

With The 76ers Winning The Draft Lottory Do you think the divison will be harder? one player wont make that much of a difference. the rating of the player you draft wont be higher than a 79.
