Ok, These are the ideas I've seen in the other threads about this, just getting an idea which ones people think are most viable for sending to San Antonio. I think they are self explanatory 3. we would need to figure out what the penalties were, and example would be something like: 60-70 mil no penalty, 70-75 2nd round pick, 75- 85 1st round pick, 85 + = 1st and 2nd.
5. for people who don't know, bird rights is what lets you add an extra year when resigning a guy, and go over the cap to resign him.

I was thinking, if we did luxury tax or hard cap, we could do what they did in the NBA last year with the Allan Houston rule (ironically not used on Houston) where you can cut a guy ( we could do more than one in this league) and he wouldn't count against the cap, just become a UFA Edit- I liked all of them, but voted for Soft and hard cap because it seemed like the most interesting without being that hard to do, just give cap immunity on all cuts made before free agency to get under the cap. This should only be for teams over the cap, not a way for teams under the cap to dump bad contracts.

As a side note if the hard cap were 75 mil only 4 teams would be over it right now

if the cap was raised to 75mil, how do u decide who gets a FA if 2 or more teams off them a max contract?

I voted for "can only exceed cap for restricted free agents." Definately the best idea IMO, and the most realistic.

i think that the hard cap should be something in the area of 70 million, so that teams can have 60 million in salary on their roster, then sign there biggest FA to a max deal

I voted for the RFA only to go over cap because if we do a hard cap what is to stop a team from getting really high contracts and then just cutting them in order to hopefully sign them again for cheaper money. On top of this I honestly think the only way we can decide on where a UFA goes when two teams bid the same amount (aside from the previous team he was on) is to have the league vote on where he is a best fit (i.e. playing time and players around him). I do not think we should base anything off of the teams previous years record because it is not always that easy in the real NBA.

I agree with basically everything you said.
If you have one of the best teams in the league, then how does a "hard cap" hurt you? Not like losing the 30th pick in the draft is really that big of a deal.

well you can fix the "not letting players sign with their old team, after being released" really easily. make it a rule, you cant sign players that you drop

so if you have over 75 mil in your total cap, then you cant go over resigning RF? but if you have under 60 mil, then you can?

you cannot go over 75 million whatsoever if its the hard cap. you can however go over 60 million to re-sign your own free agents

Not like losing the 30th pick in the draft is really that big of a deal. A hard cap is somethign you cannot go over, like the NFL, if you are over the cap you need to cut someone, we would give people one shot to cut people without paying for them, after that you simply couldn't make any trade or signing to put you over that cap
